Welcome to our 5th Wellness Wednesday link up in 2018! Today I'm providing updates on my April wellness goals, setting new goals for May, and linking up with a group of terrific bloggers who are also on the wellness adventure.
The optional prompt this month is Healthy hair and skincare tips. I'll share my simple hair and skincare routines. I look forward to reading any tips that my fellow bloggers or readers may have to share.
April wellness goal updates:
- Meditate 15 minutes daily: Yes, I met this goal. I find meditation sharpens my focus in the morning and calms my mind at night. The time duration works well for me.
- Exercise one hour daily: Yes, I met this goal by walking, running 5K, working out in the gym, and yoga as written here.
- Smile or laugh daily: Yes, simple fun experiences like my A to L fun, are making me happy.
- Read up on the four European capitals: Yes, I've done my reading on Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, and Warsaw. I look forward to visiting these cities in less than three weeks!
- Watch two new-to-me movies: Yes, I watched three movies in April. Thumbs up for The Post, and I, Tonya. Thumbs down for Daddy's Home 2.
For May, I'll keep the first three daily wellness goals, and replace the two art and entertainment goals with travel goals as listed below.
- Meditate 15 minutes daily.
- Exercise one hour daily.
- Smile or laugh daily.
- Visit four European capitals (Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, and Warsaw).
- Finalize summer travel plans.
I have a simple hair care routine. I get a haircut approximately every two months. I keep my natural hair colour for now even though I have some grey hair. I like to let my hair air dry without using a hair dryer unless I'm in a rush to go somewhere. My hairdresser and other people have told me that my hair looks healthy so I'm happy to keep it simple.
Living in cold climate, to minimize skin dryness, I use moisturizer for my face and body pretty much year round. On sunny days, I add sun screen and wear a sun hat. I also drink water throughout the day and get adequate amount of sleep at night. My skin feels fine when I follow these simple steps.
That's all, folks! Now your turn...
How are you doing with your wellness goals? Please share below.
I've fallen off the wellness Wednesday bandwagon somewhat but will be back on next month. Haircar? I have my roots done every 4 weeks. I have long, thick, curly hair that I always air dry and scrunch to style. Living in Queensland I wear a tinted moisturiser with sunscreen in it daily.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to having you back at the next WW on June 6. Thank you, Jo, for stopping by.
DeleteI'm actively working on the laughter and exercise...and I want to see I, Tonya and The Post too. YOu're like a more organised version of me. #Lovinglifelinky
ReplyDeleteI found the acting by the main actors/ actresses in both movies really good. Thanks, Lydia, for dropping by.
DeleteSmile and laugh daily. That's essential. I have that on my Wellness Wednesday list to write about in the coming weeks! Snap :)
ReplyDeleteThat's perfect, Leanne! I look forward to reading your post :)
DeleteObviously, as I sell a range of natural plant oils for skin and hair care - my skincare tips are to use natural plant oils and your skin will feel nourished, soft, silky and supple! And not only that - you can relax knowing that you are not putting anything harmful on your skin that can be absorbed into your body and cause you harm. This month I'm doing Mindful in May so aiming for at least 10 minutes of meditation daily. As for my hair - I have it cut every 7 weeks but also coloured. I love the colours I have put in my hair so can't change that habit right now! lol #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteLooking good and feeling good, that's fantastic, Min. Thanks for sharing your natural skin care and tips with us.
DeleteHi Natalie, I keep my hair shorter so that means regular trips to the hairdresser - pampering for me. I'm doing Mindful in May for my mental health and it was coincidence that Min is also doing it. I moisturize every day and try to use sunscreen when I go out although I try to rely on a tinted moisturizer that contains a SPF.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, It's great that you and Min are doing MiM and sharing the information with us. I also find reading everyone's skincare and hair care tips useful. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteYou've done a commendable job. I don't have set wellness goals, but I make sure I exercise every day, get out into the sunshine and fresh air and try to clear my busy mind. I also try to eat sensibly (most of the time). I recently downloaded and App called Calm for meditating each night before going to bed and I find it helpful. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteYour routine sounds great, Kathy, and most importantly it works for you. I've heard about Calm from another blogger. Thanks, Kathy, for stopping by.
DeleteHow fortunate you are to be able to spend so little time on your hair while still being told it looks nice and healthy! I can do my makeup in five minutes flat, but my hair takes a lot more time and energy!
ReplyDeleteI'm still working to increase my time in meditation, but I do recognize it's importance in my life as I'm getting older. The brain seems to go faster the older we get, and meditation is such a wonderful anecdote to the misery that darn brain can cause!
From your photos, Tamara, it looks like you have thick and beautiful hair so you're taking care of it well.
DeleteI'm motivated to meditate as it helps me sleep. Oh the things we need to do for our mind and body while going through hormonal changes and slower metabolic rate!
I didn't get any healthy posts up (AtoZ killed April for me) but plan to have one in the next few weeks that I'll link up to the next one Natalie. As far as skin and hair goes - moisturiser is my best friend, and for hair - mine's pretty much dead straight so it gets a few foils in it every 7-8wks and a bit of a blow dry by me in the morning to get my fringe to sit straight.
ReplyDeleteSure, Leanne, please feel free to link up on June 6. Moisturizer is my friend, too, and lip balm, especially in the winter here. Thank you for dropping by.
DeleteHi, Natalie - I always find your wellness posts inspiring, and this one is no exception. I'm not a big movie watcher, but I did see The Post twice. I absolutely LOVED it. It made me long to be a journalist in those exiting times. I could feel the 'deadline' tension in every fiber of my being...and smell the newsprint!
ReplyDeleteAgreed with you, Donna, that The Post was great to watch. I made a note of 2018 Toronto International Film Festival dates Sept 6 to 16 in my calendar. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteI envy your wash and wear hair. I don't spend nearly the same time on my hair as I did when I was working, but if I just let it air dry, it's pretty pathetic (not that I don't do it anyway). Must see The Post!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for my easy care hair because I'm hopeless with hair styling! Thanks, Janis, for stopping by.
DeleteWould love to see a photo of YOU!! Not sure I ever have. How short is your hair? I would like to go shorter with mine again but this family of mine just hates for me to. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteYou have done so well on your goals and continue to maintain. I walked today...just 20 minutes...a little over a mile, I think, and thought of you. It was so pleasant to be outside in the sun and walking without any real direction. Thank you for inspiring me.
Bravos, Leslie, for staying active. My hair is shoulder length so I can tie it in a pony tail when I exercise, and I just need a haircut approximately every two months. Thank you for dropping by.
DeleteGlad to hear that you achieved your wellness goals for April! Hoping you continue your success in May. One 'wellness goal' on my list is to revisit at days end all the good things that happened during the day. Gratitude is good for the soul and keeps things in perspective
ReplyDeleteAgreed totally with you, Lisa, about how gratitude is good for the soul and keeps things in perspective. Thank you for stopping by.
